Ice Wonder

I enjoy taking nature pictures...particullarly of plants and patterns in nature.  As such, winter is a fantastic opportunity for interesting photography.  Living in St. Louis, with our generally mild winters, doesn't give too many chances for snow & ice photos. I think that the juxtaposition of snow and ice with plants really shows off the wonder and beauty of God's creation. This photo is of a grass seed pod, encased in ice.  Total size of the pod is less than one inch.  It's amazing how delicate appearing and yet how strong this little seed pod is! Submitted byGregg

A New Season

This month is the New season, New Beginning, New Doors of Opportunity,

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19

I will open a way, not merely in the Red Sea, but in the wilderness of the whole world; and not merely one river shall gush out of the rock, but many, which shall refresh, not the bodies as formerly, but the souls of the thirsty, so that the prophecy shall be fulfilled: 'With joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation'."

"A way" often stands for the true religion (Ac 9:2 18:26).

"Rivers" express the influences of the Holy Spirit (Joh 7:37-39).

Restoration of relationships, love, success, happiness, and finances.

The Word - Jesus

As we approach Holy Week and ponder the passion of our Lord Jesus, may we never take for granted His amazing love that shines on us . . . the light of forgiveness, of hope, of a future, and of love.  The darkness could not overcome Him, and by His grace alone we have been given the promise that it will never be overcome in the lives of those who love Him.  With whom will you share the Light this week?

March Snow Thankfulness

 

I am thankful for the wonderful snow day that God gave us! It gave my family the gift of connecting (while we played together out in the snow for hours)! It also gave dh and I a chance to reconnect with the "kid" in each of us. We are thankful for the peace God has given us over the past year of storms, and for His strength when faced with challenging life choices. We are thankful for God's steadfast love and faithfulness (which is surely the OPPOSITE of the way the weather is in STL!).

Thankful?

Just a quick question?  Have you stopped today to think about something for which you are thankful?  So often I find myself thinking about my wants and my needs, and then I realize that I haven't taken notice of the blessings I have already received. 

Take just a moment and let us know something for which you want to thank the Lord today. God is good, all of the time!  All of the time, God is good!

The Wonder of Hope

What an absolutely crazy week of weather we have had in StL.  The weekend was so warm, with highs reaching into the seventies on Sunday.  Then Monday night and Tuesday found us getting buried in six to ten inches of snow; depending on which part of the city you call home.

This photo was sent in today, and I think it is the perfect picture to represent hope.  We can so often find ourselves frozen and cold, without compassion or hope . . . thinking that we will be caught in the chill of Winter forever.  When if we take the time to look around, search God's Word, gaze at His glorious creation, share with a friend, or listen to Him in a moment of silence.  We might just find new growth, a shoot that promises the hope needed for tomorrow.  I am so thankful for the blessing of hope.  A reminder that I definitely needed this day.

May God bless you with the truth of His hope for this day, tomorrow, and forever.

Chattanooga Sunset

While visiting Chattanooga, TN, this past weekend, we took an hour to drive up LookOut Mountain to watch the sunset.  It had been a beautiful Spring like day, and we so enjoyed being able to spend some time outside.  Especially after all of the cold and snow we have experienced in St. Louis this year. 

Once again, God gave us an amazing opportunity to praise Him for the blessing of His creation.  It is a wonder that He cares about us enough to paint the sky with gorgeous color every evening.

2008 - Authority

The year 2008 'will be an interesting year. We will witness the presidential election in America: 1.We will elect the first female president. or 2. We will elect the first African American president. or 3. Will  the President launch a military attack and trigger the apocalypse or 4) Will life go on as it has for years.  Through it all we must maintain our faith in Christ and our compassion and love for mankind.  Submitted by Rev.
